Romania is entering its fourth month of political crisis following the dismissal of the Ilie Bolojan government via a motion of censure on May 5. Since then, the country has lacked a government with full executive powers.

President Nicușor Dan has not made a new prime ministerial nomination since June 22, though sources indicate a new appointment may occur within the coming days. The primary obstacle remains the inability of parliamentary parties to form a stable, pro-European majority.

Political factions remain deadlocked: the Social Democratic Party (PSD) refuses to support any government that does not include them, while the USR party has explicitly stated they will not support a PSD-led administration. The RMDSZ party is currently supporting Siegfried Mureșan but remains open to new negotiations depending on the President's next move.

Previous attempts to resolve the deadlock have failed, most notably the June 4 nomination of Eugen Tomac, who resigned after ten days of negotiations without presenting a cabinet list or government program.
