Romania submits 2.84 billion euro PNRR payment request

Romania has officially submitted its fifth payment request under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) to the European Commission. The request, totaling 2.84 billion euros, is the penultimate submission in the current cycle. It comprises 1.65 billion euros in non-reimbursable grants and 433 million euros in loans. The request is tied to the fulfillment of 75 milestones and targets, including 21 structural reforms and 54 specific investments.

Interim Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragoș Pîslaru, noted that this submission brings the country's grant absorption rate to 78%, a significant increase from 47% recorded a year ago. He emphasized that the full allocation of 13.57 billion euros in grants has been preserved.

Separately, Interim Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu announced an urgent summons for the leadership of Romsilva. This follows an analysis by the National Agency for Public Procurement (ANAP) revealing that Romsilva awarded 28 million lei in contracts through non-publicized procedures during 2025, with 82.75% of these cases being justified by extreme urgency.
