Romania food processing sector sees major industrial investment

Romania's food processing industry is seeing a significant influx of investment, with five new factories expected to begin operations this autumn. Total investments for these projects are approaching 300 million euros.

Key developments include Transavia, a major poultry producer, constructing a new facility in Ciugud, Alba county, with an investment of approximately 200 million euros. Additionally, Belgian company United Petfood is investing 35 million euros in a new pet food factory in Răcari, Dâmbovița county, which is expected to create up to 100 jobs.

In a separate expansion, the Italian confectionery giant Ferrero has acquired land in Timișoara to prepare for local production. While the company has previously operated in Romania through sales, the establishment of Ferrero România Industrial SRL indicates a shift toward manufacturing chocolate and cocoa products within the country.
