Russia faces fuel shortages following Ukrainian refinery attacks

Russia is facing a renewed fuel crisis characterized by widespread shortages and rising prices, driven largely by systematic Ukrainian drone attacks on energy infrastructure and refinery maintenance. Reports indicate that fuel availability has dropped significantly, with some data suggesting only 28% of gas stations in certain areas remain stocked.

To mitigate the shortage, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak confirmed that the country has begun importing fuel, likely from countries such as India, Kazakhstan, and Belarus. Additionally, the government has authorized the sale of lower-quality fuels, including Euro 2 and Euro 3 standards, to meet domestic demand.

In several regions, including Moscow, authorities have implemented strict rationing measures, such as limiting the volume of gasoline and diesel that can be purchased per customer. These shortages have led to long queues at service stations and instances of civil unrest among motorists.
