Romania fuel prices remain high amid global diesel market shifts
Fuel prices in Romania remain elevated as of Sunday, October 11, with standard gasoline prices ranging between 10 and 11 lei per liter. The lowest gasoline price was recorded in Orțișoara, Timiș, at approximately 10.05 to 10.75 lei per liter, depending on the source. Diesel prices are approaching the 11 lei threshold, with a national average around 10.86 lei per liter and the cheapest diesel found in Eforie Nord at 10.75 lei per liter. LPG prices average around 4.7 lei per liter.
Global market developments may influence future domestic costs. US President Donald Trump announced negotiations to allow massive deliveries of Russian diesel into American and global markets, leading to the suspension of certain US sanctions against Moscow. This move has drawn criticism from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and EU diplomacy chief Kaja Kallas, who stated that suspending sanctions could fuel the Kremlin's war against Ukraine. The European Union has indicated it will strengthen its own measures against Russia in response.
