Romania hosts cultural events honoring anti-communist resistance and pastoral traditions

Various cultural and historical events are scheduled across Romania, focusing on regional heritage and traditions. In the Apuseni region, the second edition of ‘Apuseni – Memory Celebrations’ will take place in Mărgău on September 19-20. The event commemorates the ‘Teodor Șușman’ anti-communist resistance group through hiking, debates, musical performances, and the premiere of the documentary ‘Petrea Icoanelor’.

In Gorj County, the traditional pastoral event ‘Coborâtul oilor de la munte’ (the descent of sheep from the mountains) is approaching in Baia de Fier. This celebration highlights the ancient practice of transhumance in the Carpathian Mountains, a millenary tradition that has shaped Romanian culture, language, and settlements. The region is also noted for its geological significance, including the Cheile Galbenului-Peștera Muierilor karst complex.
