Romania Hosts Largest Annual NATO Reserve Officers Congress
Bucharest is hosting the biggest yearly gathering of NATO reserve officers, scheduled to run until 8 August. More than 500 reservist military personnel from 29 NATO and partner states are attending under the patronage of the Romanian President.
The event is organized by the Romanian Association of Reserve Officers and the National Association of Military Reserve and Retired "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" in partnership with the Ministry of National Defence. It features specialist workshops, a civil‑military exercise (CIMEX‑26), a symposium titled “Winning the war of narratives”, and a MILCOMP 2026 sport‑military competition.
The conference brings together the three inter‑allied confederations – CIOR, CIOMR and CISOR – which together represent over 1.3 million reservists from 34 NATO nations, highlighting Romania’s role in collective defence amid the ongoing Russian aggression in Ukraine and broader global security concerns.
