Romania infrastructure: A3 motorway expansion and Timișoara bypass progress
Major infrastructure projects are progressing across Romania. On the A3 Transylvania Motorway, a new 12.24-kilometer section between Magyarzsombor and Vaskapu has officially opened to traffic. Construction continues on critical viaducts in the Nădășelu–Mihăiești and Mihăiești–Zimbor sections, with physical progress reaching approximately 76%. Completion of these viaducts is expected this year, which would enable continuous travel across 155 kilometers of the motorway between Poarta Sălajului and Târgu Mureș.
In Timișoara, work on the West Bypass (Varianta de Ocolire Timișoara Vest) has reached a 13% physical completion stage. The 14-kilometer project involves earthworks, bridge construction, and archaeological excavations.
Other regional developments include the modernization of Tricolorului Park in Reșița, which is ahead of schedule and expected to finish in October, and the construction of a road bridge over the Prut river connecting Ungheni to Iași, which has reached 55% completion.
