Romania investigates five teenagers for sexual assault of a minor
Five teenagers, aged 15 to 18, are under investigation in Romania for the suspected sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl. The incident allegedly took place in an abandoned building near the town of Plopeni, in Prahova County.
The case was reported to police on September 25 after an educational institution notified authorities that the minor had been a victim of sexual violence. Investigators believe the victim was subjected to coercion and violence by three of the young men, while the other two suspects were present during the event but did not participate directly in the assault. All five suspects and the victim are reportedly students at the same school.
Following police searches in Baicoi, Slănic, and Dumbravesti on October 1, all five individuals were detained for 24 hours. On October 2, a court issued varying measures for the suspects: one individual was placed in custody, two were given 30-day house arrest, and the remaining two were placed under 60-day police supervision. The General Directorate for Social Assistance and Child Protection has intervened to provide support to the minor victim. The investigation remains ongoing under the supervision of the prosecutor.
