Romania invests €170 m in Sfântu Gheorghe science centre and upgrades Vișeu de Sus school
In Sfântu Gheorghe, a €170 million (170 million lei) EU‑funded urban regeneration project will convert six historic buildings of the former tobacco factory into a science‑play centre. The complex will house museums, laboratories, conference rooms and a flight‑simulator, targeting children, youth and families, and is expected to attract more than 35,000 beneficiaries in its first year. Completion is planned for December 2029.
In Vișeu de Sus, restoration work on the historic Romanian‑German school has reached roughly half of the physical construction phase. The renovation preserves the monument while upgrading safety, functionality and comfort for educational use, reflecting local authorities’ emphasis on improving conditions for future generations.
