Romania invests 6 million lei to modernize spa resorts
The Romanian Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MEDAT) has disbursed over 6 million lei to revitalize spa and balneoclimateric resorts across five counties. These funds were distributed through a de minimis aid scheme aimed at modernizing and developing local tourism infrastructure.
A total of nine projects were completed, involving investments exceeding 12 million lei from private beneficiaries, with the government covering up to 50% of eligible expenses. The projects focused on expanding tourist reception structures, acquiring medical equipment for balneotherapy treatments, modernizing infrastructure, and developing leisure facilities.
Key locations benefiting from these investments include Băile Felix, Băile 1 Mai, Călimănești, Călacea, Tășnad, and Pucioasa. Minister Irineu Darău stated that the goal is to transform Romania’s natural resources, such as mineral waters and therapeutic gases, into an economic advantage by providing modern services that meet European standards and support local communities.
