Romania issues air‑alert in Tulcea after Russian drone strike near Ukraine border

On the night of 13–14 June, Russia launched a drone attack on civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine close to Romania’s border. The Romanian Defence Ministry activated a RO‑Alert for the north of Tulcea County at 00:02, warning residents of possible falling objects, and the alert remained in force until 01:11.

Two Italian Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon fighters, stationed at Mihail Kogălniceanu air base and participating in NATO’s Air Policing mission, were scrambled at 00:10 to monitor the airspace over the border area. The aircraft returned to base at 01:44. Romanian authorities reported no unauthorized airspace incursions or impacts on the ground.

The incident is part of a broader pattern, with Romanian monitoring noting 47 drone fragment detections on its territory since the war began, including 12 this year.
