Romania issues travel advisories for Netherlands and Serbia
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued travel advisories for the Netherlands and Serbia due to planned transport disruptions.
In the Netherlands, a general strike by railway and local public transport workers is scheduled for September 9. This strike is expected to cause major disruptions, including the complete stoppage of domestic and international rail traffic, with the exception of the sprinter train to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Local public transport in several cities is also expected to be halted.
In Serbia, freight transporters plan to organize an indefinite protest at all border crossing points toward the EU starting Monday, September 14, 2026. This protest will affect multiple border points between Serbia and Romania, making the entry, exit, and transit of freight vehicles impossible. Affected locations include Batrovci, Horgos, Jimbolia, and Vatin, among others, as well as the Novi Sad Port intermodal terminal. The Ministry advises travelers to avoid affected border areas and use alternative routes.
