Romania launches PSMA‑Lutetium‑177 therapy for advanced prostate cancer

Romania, as an EU member, is joining European Horizon Europe oncology programmes such as ECHOS, SUNRISE and DynamiCity, which aim to modernise cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment across the bloc.

The SANADOR Oncology Centre announced the first national use of PSMA‑targeted therapy with lutetium‑177 for patients with advanced prostate cancer. The treatment follows the earlier introduction of PET‑CT PSMA imaging, allowing precise staging and targeted radioligand therapy in a multidisciplinary care pathway. Dr. Doris Andronescu, SANADOR’s director, said, “Introducing PSMA therapy reflects the long‑term strategic direction of constant investment in advanced medical technologies and integrated care for complex oncological cases.”
