Romania launches Rabla Auto 2026 scheme with unchanged 2025 rules

The Romanian Ministry of Environment announced that the Rabla Auto 2026 programme for private car buyers will start this year using the same eligibility criteria and financing conditions as the 2025 session. The budget for the scheme is 300 million lei.

The introduction of a new requirement that eligible vehicles be manufactured within the European Economic Area or Mediterranean‑Treaty states has been postponed after the European Commission warned that such a geographic restriction would trigger lengthy EU procedures and delay the launch by at least three months. The ministry said discussions with EU bodies will continue, aiming to apply the origin criterion from the 2027 edition of the programme.
