Romania Leads and Serbia Ranks Second in 2026 Fixed‑Internet Quality Survey
A nPerf study of fixed‑broadband performance in the first five months of 2026 ranks Romania at the top of a group of 20 economies with similar GDP per‑capita, scoring 128,587 points. The Romanian network is described as delivering stable videoconferencing, ultra‑HD streaming and fast large‑file downloads, outpacing the United Kingdom (126,638), Sweden (126,415) and Germany (112,635).
Serbia placed second in the same ranking with 108,342 points, trailing Bulgaria (110,504) by only 2,162 points. The Serbian scores reflect recent state investment in fiber‑optic expansion and digital infrastructure, offering higher stability and lower latency for gaming, video calls and high‑resolution video.
The survey, covering January–May 2026, compares countries whose gross domestic product per‑capita falls between $8,000 and $32,000, allowing a fair assessment of network quality across economies of comparable size.
