Resuscitation awareness events held in Bucharest and Sibiu
Various initiatives are being held to mark World Resuscitation Day, focusing on public awareness and first aid training.
In Bucharest, the Romanian Red Cross is organizing a large-scale flashmob at the Arcul de Triumf. Over 70 volunteers will participate, including 42 individuals performing resuscitation demonstrations and 30 volunteers conducting a choreographed flashmob on Boulevard Regele Mihai I. The event aims to emphasize that rapid intervention during cardiorespiratory arrest can significantly increase survival rates.
In Sibiu, the second edition of the ‘Resuscitation Marathon’ will take place at Shopping City Sibiu. Organized by the SMURD Foundation in partnership with the Sibiu Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the free event features over 80 medical professionals and volunteers. Participants can engage in practical training sessions covering topics such as recognizing cardiac arrest, using automated external defibrillators, and airway obstruction techniques. The program also includes demonstrations by mountain rescuers and firefighters.
