Romania Ministry of Education proposes new high school admission rules

The Romanian Ministry of Education has released a draft framework methodology for high school admission for the 2027–2028 school year for public consultation. The proposal introduces changes to how admission averages are calculated for specific vocational profiles.

For students pursuing music, choreography, and acting, the proposal suggests increasing the weight of the National Evaluation score to 50% of the final admission average, up from the current 25%. Under this plan, aptitude tests would also account for 50% of the total.

The theological profile would see a more significant shift, with the National Evaluation potentially accounting for 75% of the final result and aptitude tests making up the remaining 25%. Other vocational profiles, such as visual arts, architecture, and sports, are expected to maintain the current formula where aptitude tests account for 75% and the National Evaluation accounts for 25%.

These changes are not yet final and are subject to modification following the conclusion of the public consultation process.
