Romania modernises pediatric ICU in Botoșani and revamps psychiatric wards in Târnăveni

The Save the Children organization is modernising the pediatric intensive care unit at the Mavromati County Emergency Hospital in Botoșani, equipping it with new life‑support devices and aiming to reduce infant respiratory mortality. The project targets completion by the end of 2026 and is part of a broader national programme that has already supplied over 2,000 vital medical devices to Romanian hospitals.

In parallel, the Municipal Hospital “Dr. Gheorghe Marinescu” in Târnăveni is undergoing a 1.2‑million‑lei renovation of its psychiatry building. The works, contracted to Delta Termo Construct 1999 SRL, include re‑partitioning, hygienisation, new flooring, walls, ceilings and waste‑collection facilities. The reorganisation will cut the total number of psychiatric beds from 320 to about 112, with the aim of improving patient conditions and complying with sanitary regulations.

Both initiatives are being overseen by Romanian health authorities and reflect ongoing efforts to upgrade hospital infrastructure across the country.
