Romania offers 68 euro aid per head for cattle and buffalo farmers

Romanian cattle and buffalo farmers can now apply for state aid through the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA). The aid, approved by the European Commission, provides 68 euros per eligible animal to help offset rising production costs, specifically for fuel and fertilizers.

The total budget for the cattle and buffalo scheme is approximately 52 million euros (277.18 million lei). Individual beneficiaries can receive a maximum total amount equivalent to 50,000 euros. To qualify, farmers must maintain at least 75% of the livestock for which they are requesting aid as of October 5, 2026.

The deadline for submitting applications is September 24, 2026. In the Botoșani county center alone, approximately 1,500 cattle farmers are potential beneficiaries, with 712 applications already submitted as of the reporting period.
