Romania public education perception declines in APSAP study

A study conducted by the APSAP Training Center reveals that 46.7% of Romanian respondents believe public education has deteriorated, either slightly or significantly, over the last four years. The primary concern cited is a school curriculum that is disconnected from the requirements of the labor market.

Perceptions vary significantly by age group. Among those aged 18-25, 32.1% report a decline in education, while 31.8% see improvement. In contrast, 54.5% of respondents in the 50-55 age bracket believe the quality of public education has worsened.

Data from Eurostat highlights a critical issue: in 2025, Romania recorded the highest early school leaving and training rate in the European Union at 15.5%, compared to the EU average of 9.1%. Additionally, the survey indicates broader social trends, with 50% of respondents stating they would leave Romania if given the opportunity and 58% believing public institutions are unprepared for cyberattacks.
