First Gallery of Boița Tunnel on Sibiu‑Pitești Autostrada Completed
The contractor Mapa‑Cengiz finished the first gallery of the 264‑metre Boița 1 tunnel on the Sibiu‑Pitești A1 highway, reaching about 30 % physical progress on the gallery and 13 % overall for section 2 (Boița‑Cornetu). The second gallery still requires excavation of 152 metres. Work on the nearby Balota and Robești tunnels continues, with physical stages at 4 % and 36 % respectively.
In Timișoara, the Liviu Rebreanu boulevard will be closed to traffic from 23 July to 1 August for resurfacing and utility adjustments, part of a broader city‑wide road rehabilitation program.
In Oradea, the first asphalt layer was laid on the 406‑metre underground road passage at the Jumbo shopping area; a second layer will follow, bringing the project to 85 % completion. The work, funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, aims to improve traffic flow on DN 79.
Separately, work on Moldova’s A7 highway continues, with the 28.35‑km Plopi‑Buzău bridge and other sections progressing toward an anticipated 2026 opening of remaining lots.
