Romania: RATBV ticket procurement and Cugir road junction tender updates

RATBV has launched an acquisition procedure to print over 1.6 million travel tickets for the upcoming year. The transport operator expects higher demand due to the expansion of metropolitan public transport. The contract, estimated at approximately 108,782 lei excluding VAT, includes 1,654,700 tickets and 100 thermal rolls for station vending machines. Tickets will be color-coded by route and tariff: green for Brașov municipal lines, brown for metropolitan areas, and various colors for metropolitan lines. To prevent fraud, the tickets will feature security elements such as watermarks, fluorescent ink, and embossed numbering.

Separately, the tender for the design and execution of the Cugir Road Junction, which aims to connect the city to the A1 Motorway, has been delayed again. The National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) extended the deadline for bid submissions to August 24, 2026. The delay is attributed to the need for clarifications and modifications to the tender documentation following numerous inquiries from interested construction companies. The project is valued between 126.34 million and 149.11 million lei excluding VAT and is funded through the 2021–2027 Transport Program.
