Moldova recalls ambassador to Moscow following drone explosion

Tensions have escalated in Eastern Europe following a series of security incidents in Moldova and diplomatic disputes between Russia and Romania.

A drone-missile exploded in the Crocmaz locality of the Ștefan Vodă district, causing damage to several households and igniting a vegetation fire. While no casualties were reported, the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the incident as a serious violation of sovereignty and recalled its ambassador to Moscow for consultations. Additionally, the Moldovan Ministry of Defense reported that a drone similar to the Russian Gheran-3 (Shahed-238) unauthorizedly entered Moldovan airspace on the night of August 10.

Simultaneously, a diplomatic row has emerged regarding the Giurgiulești Port, which was recently acquired by Romania. Russian diplomat Yuri Pilipson accused Romania of using the port as a transit hub to provide direct military and logistical support to Ukraine. In response, Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Andrei Țărnea dismissed these claims as 'Stalinist propaganda,' arguing that Russia is attempting to deny the sovereignty and national identity of its neighbors while engaging in a war of conquest.
