Romania reports 11,970 special pensioners across judiciary, parliament and diplomatic corps
The National House of Public Pensions (CNPP) reported that 11,970 people received special service pensions in Romania in June 2026, the same figure as the previous month.
The largest group are 5,849 former judges and prosecutors, whose average pension is 25,613 lei, of which 7,585 lei comes from the contributory BASS scheme and 22,483 lei from the state budget.
Other categories include 2,461 former court auxiliary staff (average 7,341 lei, 4,491 lei from the state), 777 former diplomats and consuls (average 7,015 lei, 3,084 lei from the state), 863 former parliamentarians (average 6,282 lei, 3,546 lei from the state), 1,320 former pilots (average 13,119 lei, 8,070 lei from the state) and 700 former Court of Auditors employees (average 10,748 lei, 2,698 lei from the state).
The data show that the special‑pension system remains unchanged and continues to be funded partly by contributions and largely by the state budget.
