Romania reports two incidents of impaired driving and road accidents

Two separate incidents of driving under the influence have been reported in Romania.

In Miroslava, a 19-year-old man, Emilian Ivasuc, was intercepted by police after a tire blowout caused his Kia to strike a guardrail. Ivasuc, who stated he was driving to pick up his children from kindergarten, tested with a blood alcohol concentration of 2.17‰. He faces a potential prison sentence of up to five years for driving under the influence.

In the Borăscu commune, a 16-year-old boy took his father's car without permission to drive with friends. The vehicle overturned on DJ 674B, resulting in injuries to two occupants who were treated at Turceni City Hospital. The teenager, who did not possess a driver's license, tested positive for alcohol with a concentration of 0.46 mg/l in his exhaled breath. Following 24 hours in custody, magistrates ruled that he may be investigated while remaining at liberty.
