Romanian regulator cuts gas distribution tariffs by 7.1% from July 1

The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) approved a new set of regulated tariffs for natural‑gas distribution that will take effect on 1 July 2026. The weighted‑average distribution tariff falls from 58.47 lei/MWh to 54.32 lei/MWh, a 7.1% reduction. The change applies to all 27 licensed gas‑distribution operators in Romania, but the impact will differ by operator, consumer category and consumption volume.

The two largest distributors – Distrigaz Sud Rețele and Delgaz Grid – together handle about 90 % of the national gas volume and are the main drivers of the national average decline. Four operators receive cuts of at least 10 %, while six see increases of at least 5 %. ANRE estimates the average consumer will see a decrease of about 0.5 bani per kWh (roughly 5 lei per 100 m³), noting that distribution fees represent only a fraction of the total gas bill.

ANRE President George Niculescu said, “Pentru cei mai mulţi români, distribuţia gazului costă mai puţin de la 1 iulie,” emphasizing that the tariff cut is intended to ease the overall energy cost burden while still ensuring infrastructure financing.
