Romanian police conduct nationwide safety and order operations

Romanian law enforcement agencies have conducted widespread operations across the country to improve road safety and public order. National-level actions coordinated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs resulted in over 10,800 contraventions and the seizure of 620 driving licenses within a 24-hour period.

Regional enforcement efforts saw significant results in various counties. In Timiș, police checked over 800 vehicles and identified nearly 1,000 people, issuing 190 sanctions. Argeș authorities conducted 139 checkpoints, resulting in 399 fines, while highway police reported over 2,200 sanctions during a recent period of monitoring. Other notable incidents included criminal investigations in Brașov, Harghita, and Neamț involving driving under the influence or operating vehicles without valid licenses.

Beyond traffic, police also conducted security checks at the Constanța railway station and addressed environmental crimes, such as the arrest of suspected fish poachers at the Arpașu dam in Sibiu. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of following the Road Code to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.
