Romania rolls out pension reforms and higher minimum wage from July 2026

From 1 July 2026 Romania will raise the gross minimum wage from 4,050 lei to 4,325 lei. The boost increases the pension point for low‑earners, giving a modest future pension rise of around 50‑70 lei for those who spend their careers on the minimum wage. At the same time, the price of buying a year of seniority will rise proportionally, from 12,150 lei to 12,975 lei.

Women’s retirement age will be incrementally aligned with men, reaching 62 years and 8 months by early 2027, with a one‑month increase already effective in July 2026. For July 2026 pension disbursements, the National House of Public Pensions will credit bank‑direct payments two days early (10 July) because the usual 12 July falls on a Sunday, while postal payments continue on the regular 1‑15 July timetable. Pension amounts themselves remain unchanged for the month.
