Romania schedules July child allowance payouts and court orders pension recalculation

In July 2026, Romania’s child allowance payments will be deposited into bank accounts on 8 July and distributed by post on 10 July. The amounts remain unchanged from the previous year, with monthly benefits of 719 lei for children up to two years (and for children with disabilities up to three years) and 292 lei for those aged two to 18. Additional social transfers, including the child‑raising allowance and a work‑re‑entry incentive, will be paid on the same date. The government has kept the amounts stable despite rising inflation.

A Romanian court has ordered the state pension agency, Casa de Pensii, to recalculate a pension using a full 20‑year contribution period instead of the 30‑year period previously applied. The ruling grants the pensioner an additional 3,200 lei, plus inflation‑adjusted interest and legal costs. The case highlights ongoing litigation, with roughly 25,000 pension‑related lawsuits pending and recent legal changes that limit special‑work‑group benefits.
