EU funds drive cultural restorations and water infrastructure upgrades in Romania and Moldova

In Făgăraș, Romania, the mayor signed a design contract worth 460,000 lei to restore the historic communal bath and turn it into a modern cultural centre. The project, financed with EU regional funds, foresees a total investment of about €3 million.

In Cluj County, Romania, a 25 million‑lei contract was awarded to restore the Octavian Goga Museum complex, including its park and enclosure. The two‑year work, funded by a €6 million EU programme, will renovate stone walls, iron gates and add new landscaping and public amenities.

In Edineț, Moldova, a new water‑treatment plant was inaugurated. Costing roughly €6 million under the “Europe for Moldova” programme, the facility will provide safe drinking water to around 28,000 residents of Edineț and Cupcini and includes upgrades to pumping stations and energy infrastructure. EU Ambassador Ivona Piorko highlighted the project as a fundamental step for public health and community development.
