Romania sees industrial shifts with factory sale and new German investment

Romania is seeing significant industrial activity through both acquisitions and new investments. In Galați, the Justrite Romania factory, which specializes in safety equipment for hazardous substances, has been acquired by the Italian investment firm Newport & Co. This transaction marks the exit of the American Justrite Safety Group from the Romanian market as part of a strategy to focus on core activities. The factory, which has operated since 2003, reported a turnover of approximately 37.37 million lei in 2025, though it faced a financial loss of nearly 795,000 lei compared to a profit in 2024. No immediate changes to the 84 employees have been announced.

In Oradea, German manufacturer Schmitz Cargobull AG has announced a minimum investment of 25 million euros to build a new industrial unit in the Eurobusiness IV Industrial Park. The project includes a 23,500 square meter production facility intended for chassis sub-assemblies and semi-trailer assembly. The expansion is expected to create 200 new jobs. Construction is projected to begin in the summer of 2027, with production estimated to start in 2028, pending the relocation of high-voltage power lines.
