Romania sees tanker fire in Zalău and farm blaze killing 100+ animals

A tanker vehicle caught fire on the ring road of Zalău, Sălaj County, around 07:45 in the morning. The blaze engulfed the cabin and part of the flour cargo, but firefighters from the local detachment quickly contained the flames and prevented further spread. No injuries were reported. Preliminary investigations point to an electrical short circuit as the likely cause.

In the early hours of 12 July, a strong fire broke out at a farm in Carasa, Corlățeni commune, Botoșani County. The blaze destroyed an animal shelter, a feed store and a corn annex, killing over 100 birds and three goats, while two pigs were rescued. Firefighters and a SMURD team limited the fire and stopped it from reaching the main house and nearby property. Authorities also suspect an electrical short circuit as the origin of the fire.
