Romania targets OECD membership and US investment in new government programme
Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Muresan has submitted a government programme to Parliament outlining key foreign policy priorities for Romania. The plan, titled ‘A pro-European and transatlantic Romania’, aims to attract strategic American investors and major investment funds to Romanian public companies and the private capital market. A primary goal is for Romania to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) by the end of the year.
The programme also emphasizes strengthening the Eastern Flank through the ‘Eastern Flank Watch’ and operationalizing a European maritime security hub in Constanța by 2027. Romania supports EU enlargement, advocating for the opening of negotiation chapters for Ukraine and Moldova. Additionally, the plan seeks a strategic partnership with the United States focused on technology, energy, and defense.
Separately, Strategy Inc. has proposed a change to its dividend structure for four Nasdaq-listed preferred stocks. The company is seeking shareholder approval to implement daily dividend record dates to enhance liquidity and price stability, specifically to keep its variable-rate series trading near its $100 stated value. A special shareholder meeting is scheduled for October 28.
