Romania Introduces New Vehicle Registration Rule, Summer Transit Timetable and Traffic Work Restrictions

Romanian law requires owners of second‑hand cars to register the vehicle in their name within 90 days of purchase. Failure to do so can trigger automatic suspension of the vehicle’s registration, and former owners may request verification after nine months. Authorities may also deregister the vehicle if the new owner does not comply within 45 days of a notice.

In Timișoara, the public‑transport operator announced that, starting Monday 22 June, buses and trams will run on a summer schedule. The change reflects reduced passenger numbers during the school holidays, and the revised timetables are available on the STPT website and at stations.

The Timișoara City Council has approved extensive traffic restrictions to accommodate gas‑pipeline, electricity‑cable and road‑repair works. Specific streets—including Calea Circumvalațiunii, Strada Anul 1848, Strada Silistra, and several others—will see partial or full closures between late June and August, with exact dates and hours detailed for each site. Drivers are urged to follow temporary signage and use alternative routes.
