Romania to host inaugural Parasport Romania Games in 2026

The National Paralympic Committee will host the inaugural Parasport Romania Games from September 1 to September 5, 2026, in Bucharest. This event marks the first national multi-sport paralympic competition in Romania, designed to unify ten different para-sports under a single identity to reduce fragmentation and increase visibility.

The competition will feature over 500 participants, including more than 300 athletes, coaches, and officials from both Romania and abroad. The program includes ten disciplines: para table tennis, para swimming, para-athletics, para powerlifting, 3x3 wheelchair basketball, para-archery, adapted judo, wheelchair tennis, para climbing, and para canoe.

Events will be held across eight venues in the capital, such as the Iolanda Balaș Soter Stadium and the National Tennis Center. The format combines National Championships, which serve as selection trials for Romanian national teams, with Open competitions for international athletes. Eduard Novak, president of the National Paralympic Committee, stated that the goal is to provide athletes with the necessary conditions and visibility to evolve within the Romanian sporting landscape.
