Romania to open Zimbor‑Poarta Sălajului stretch of Transylvania Autostrada in July 2026
The 12.24‑km Zimbor – Poarta Sălajului segment of the Transylvania Autostrada (A3) is set to be opened to traffic in July 2026, marking the first highway inauguration in north‑west Romania this year. Construction is reported as 98 % complete, but the opening depends on finishing the Românași road‑node, which is about 72 % done and will connect the motorway with DN1F and local roads toward Jibou and Benesat.
The segment is part of a broader plan to complete nearly 70 km of the A3 by 2026, improving links between Cluj, Sălaj, Bihor and neighboring regions. Funding comes from the 2021‑2027 Transport Programme, combining EU assistance and state budgets.
