Romania to receive about €60 billion from EU multi‑annual budget
Europarliamentarian Victor Negrescu said Romania contributed roughly €30 billion to the EU’s common budget and has received more than €100 billion in EU funds, giving the country a net positive balance of around €68 billion. He noted that nine out of ten public investments in Romania have used EU money and that 60 % of current projects depend heavily on those funds. Under the proposed 2028‑2034 EU multi‑annual financial framework, Romania is expected to obtain about €60 billion, with the majority of the funds (over 55 %) to be administered directly by Brussels rather than via national “envelopes”. Negrescu stressed the need for large‑scale, cross‑border projects and functional public‑private partnerships, and urged the preparation of a national‑regional partnership plan to compete for the new EU competitiveness fund.
