Romania tourism bodies urge govt to create permanent workforce support for tourism and HoReCa

The National Association of Tourism Agencies in Romania (ANAT) sent an open letter to interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan asking for a dialogue to establish a permanent mechanism that supports the labour force in the tourism and HoReCa sectors and preserves human capital during periods of economic contraction. ANAT President Cristian Bărhălescu stresses that “the Romanian economy can navigate a slowdown without losing viable companies, jobs and business confidence” and calls for measures that complement fiscal‑consolidation efforts with tools to maintain competitiveness and avoid irreversible job losses. The association cites recent data from the National Institute of Statistics, the European Commission and the OECD that show the Romanian economy is slowing, urging the government and business representatives to act jointly.

ANAT’s request is framed as a broader concern for the national economy, arguing that similar challenges affect other sectors and that any major economic intervention should be continuously evaluated for its impact on employment.
