Romanian hospitals have launched a large-scale recruitment phase following a government decision to unblock over 6,800 positions within the public health system. Of these, 6,452 positions are designated for hospital units, with the majority aimed at addressing shortages in nursing and auxiliary medical staff.

The breakdown of approved positions includes 2,593 for medical assistants, 2,567 for auxiliary medical personnel, 1,433 for doctors, and 257 for specialists such as pharmacists, biologists, and physicists. Additionally, approximately 400 positions have been allocated to county ambulance services.

Individual facilities have already begun the hiring process. The Slatina County Emergency Hospital is organizing competitions for doctors and plans to open roles for nursing and auxiliary staff. In Târgu Jiu, the County Emergency Hospital is recruiting a lead mortician, offering a net monthly income of approximately 10,000 lei for candidates with high school education and specific certifications.
