Romanian airports move forward with Suceava terminal expansion and Timișoara runway repairs

The Suceava International Airport project is progressing after the National Council for the Settlement of Complaints cleared legal challenges that had halted the tender for a new passenger terminal. The planned terminal will cover about 11,000 square metres—more than three times the current size—and is part of a broader development plan that includes parking expansion, an electric plant, and upgraded navigation equipment. Authorities expect bids to be opened in the coming weeks and a winner to be selected soon.

Separately, Timișoara International Airport announced a temporary suspension of all take‑off and landing operations from 08:00 on 2 November 2026 until 21:00 on 22 November 2026. The closure is required to carry out essential runway repairs that will improve safety and operational conditions in the medium to long term. Airlines have been notified and passengers are advised to contact their carriers for flight‑status updates.
