Romanian and Moldovan labor ministries impose fines and launch investigations

In July, the Romanian labour inspectorate in Botoșani carried out 67 inspections, issuing 80 corrective measures and 15 fines totalling 224,500 lei. Violations included failure to schedule leave, late registration of contract suspensions, neglect of collective bargaining duties, missing internal regulations, incomplete work‑hour records, lack of mandatory rest periods, absent harassment‑prevention procedures, unpaid wage differentials, failure to pay night‑shift premiums, delayed electronic contract updates, employment of workers without proper contracts, and non‑compliance with occasional work rules.

Separately, Moldova’s Ministry of Labour and Social Protection announced actions after a complaint about irregularities at the temporary refugee placement centre “Sanatoriul‑preventoriu de bază Constructorul”. The ministry said it will investigate the reported breaches of beneficiaries’ rights and will sanction the centre’s management if the allegations are confirmed.
