Romanian ANPC fines food delivery and seaside tourism firms

Inspectors from the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) carried out spot checks on food‑delivery services in Bucharest and discovered insulated bags containing cockroaches and other dirt. ANPC chief Békési Csaba‑Lajos described the situation as “extreme, extremely widespread” and warned that inspections will be extended nationwide, with possible fines or suspension of businesses that fail to meet hygiene standards.

In a separate operation on the Romanian Black Sea coast during July 13‑19, ANPC officials issued 206 fines totalling over one million lei and temporarily halted the activities of 15 operators after finding violations in hotels, pools and recreational areas, including expired products and unsafe equipment. Over 48,000 lei worth of non‑conforming goods were withdrawn from sale. The actions aim to safeguard tourists and enforce consumer‑protection laws across the country.
