Romanian ANSA Launches Integrated Food Safety Inspection Campaign

The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) announced a campaign titled “Integrated Controls, Safe Food” that will run from August to December 2026. Inspectors will visit food‑producing and -selling companies to carry out transparent checks, prohibit any request for bribes or gifts, and provide free professional advice. The agency urges operators to report suspected corruption through dedicated e‑mail addresses and hotlines, guaranteeing confidentiality and impartial review.

The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) highlighted a parallel effort to prevent non‑conformities in the consumer market. At a conference in Mamaia, ANPC President Csaba Lajos Bekesi stressed the importance of voluntary compliance and announced that more than 800 fines totalling over 4.5 million lei have been issued to hospitality businesses. The authority will continue informing and advising operators to ensure product and service safety, working with industry groups such as the Romanian Hotel and Restaurant Association.
