Romanian arts sector sees festival conclusions and new professional platform
The Romanian performing arts sector is seeing significant developments through cultural festivals and new professional platforms. The 13th Folk Friends Together International Folklore Festival was held in Târnăveni from August 20 to 24, 2026, organized by the Junii Târnavei Association. The event featured international participants and workshops, including a cultural exchange session at the Grand Hotel in Târgu Mureș.
In the theatrical sphere, the Gala HOP 2026 was held from August 27 to 30 in Constanța. Organized by the Romanian Theater Union in co-production with the Constanța State Theater, the event was funded by the Ministry of Culture. The competition included a pre-HOP camp in Piatra Neamța and various professional workshops focused on stage truth and vocal presence.
Additionally, the HOP Agency, originally founded in 2016 by Miklós Bács, is transitioning into a comprehensive online platform. It aims to serve the broader professional community of theater, film, and performance artists by providing casting profiles, professional biographies, and a centralized space for casting announcements.
