DIICOT prosecutors and police have dismantled a major international drug trafficking organization operating in Romania. The operation involved 16 search warrants across multiple locations, including Timișoara, Satu Mare, Oradea, and Câmpulung Moldovenesc, as well as several counties such as Maramureș, Timiș, and Mehedinți.

Authorities seized approximately 1.7 tons of drugs, specifically cocaine, cannabis, and hashish. The estimated wholesale value of the narcotics is 9.6 million euros, while the retail value is estimated at 25 million euros. The investigation revealed that the group operated as a pyramid-style criminal organization, transporting large quantities of drugs from Spain to various European countries using heavy goods vehicles (TIRs) equipped with hidden compartments.

The group reportedly fulfilled orders from Albanian drug traffickers. The leader of the organization is a Romanian citizen who had previously been identified by Europol as a High Value Target. The criminal activities included organized crime, drug trafficking, and money laundering.
