Romanian authorities intercept drugs hidden in nasal spray containers

Romanian authorities have intensified security measures ahead of major summer festivals to prevent the distribution of illegal substances. Minister of Internal Affairs Cătălin Predoiu reported that law enforcement, including organized crime units, gendarmerie, and specialized canine teams, are working to intercept drugs before they reach large public gatherings and young participants.

Officers have identified increasingly sophisticated concealment methods, most notably substances dissolved in liquids and stored in containers designed to mimic nasal decongestant sprays. During recent operations, police seized a variety of illegal materials, including cannabis, cocaine, ketamine, MDMA/ecstasy, 3-CMC, NEP, hallucinogenic mushrooms, and synthetic substances, as well as Xanax and Alprazolam tablets.

In addition to the drugs themselves, authorities confiscated electronic scales, small bags, bottles, and various packaging materials used for distribution. Officials emphasized that as smuggling methods evolve, law enforcement must continuously adapt its operational procedures and technical capabilities to ensure public safety during the summer season.
