Romanian bear attacks injure German tourist and local man
Two separate bear attacks were reported in Romania within hours of each other. In the commune of Arefu, Argeș County, a 30‑year‑old German tourist was bitten on her left forearm while staying at the Dracula camping area. She received first‑aid from local police and a SMURD ambulance crew before being transported to Curtea de Argeș Hospital.
Later the same day, on the DN104A near Mărgineni and Bucium in Brașov County, a man suffered injuries to his scalp and abdomen after a bear encounter. Emergency responders provided rapid assistance and the victim was taken to a nearby medical facility.
Following the incidents, the Romanian Department for Emergency Situations (IGSU) issued a public warning urging people in mountain and forest areas to follow strict safety rules, emphasizing that “life has priority.” The alerts were broadcast via RO‑ALERT and posted on social media.
