Romanian bears draw tourists on Transfăgărășan and climb a power pole near Brașov
In the Retezat Mountains bears tend to avoid visitors, but along the Transfăgărășan highway they have been a regular roadside attraction since the 1970s. Historical photographs and testimonies reveal that early feeding of bear cubs by road‑workers led the animals to become accustomed to humans, resulting in frequent sightings and even interactions where drivers offered food.
A recent video from the outskirts of Brașov shows a bear climbing down a high‑voltage pole, an unusual behaviour that quickly spread online and sparked commentary on social media. The footage highlights the ongoing close proximity between wildlife and tourists on popular mountain routes in Romania.
