Romanian Border Police Detain Turkish Man Trying Illegal Entry from Serbia

On 10 June 2026, Romanian border police in the Cruceni sector of Timiș County used a thermographic system to spot a 19‑year‑old Turkish citizen attempting to cross the Serbia‑Romania frontier illegally. The police intercepted the individual about 200 m from the border, identified him, and opened an investigation for fraudulent border crossing. He was ordered to be returned to Serbian authorities and was barred from entering Romania for five years.

In the preceding 24 hours, Romanian frontier services processed more than 70,200 people and 12,600 vehicles at external borders (Serbia, Moldova, Ukraine and maritime/air points). They recorded 38,680 entries, applied 70 legal violations (33 crimes, 37 contraventions), issued fines totalling 20,081 lei, and seized goods worth around 1,814,200 lei. The operation also prevented 22 foreign nationals, including the Turkish man, from entering Romania and stopped 10 Romanian citizens from leaving the country.

These actions illustrate the ongoing enforcement efforts of the Romanian Border Police to curb illegal migration and protect public safety along the nation’s external frontiers.
